Aspen Cellars Reimagined: A Cozy, Mountain-Modern Wine Shop Renovation
On the winding drive into Aspen, we transformed a tucked-away corner of a gas station into a whimsical wine bodega, marrying roadside grit with high-altitude refinement. Reclaimed Beetle Kill Pine—its blue-gray, burred grain a local gem—wraps the vaulted ceiling and shelving, lending a warm, storied texture that honors the forest’s recent struggles. The curated collection is showcased on modular, freestanding displays that allow for quick reconfigurations as seasons, vintners, and inventory tastes change; integrated lighting and removable slat panels make seasonal tastings and pop-up events effortless. Durable finishes provide functionality wihtin an elegant, approachable aesthetic, while subtle Colorado references—hand-drawn topographic motifs and locally sourced stone tiles—anchor the design to place. The result is a compact, flexible bodega that invites travelers to linger, sip, and carry home a piece of the mountains.
